Process Engineer - Digital Transformation (Specialist Process Engineer)

Description

A specialist role to lead, manage, and deploy business improvement and digital transformation initiatives within the bank. The Process Engineer is responsible for analysing, designing, recommending, and implementing innovative and cost-efficient business processes, focusing on process optimization, business analysis, project management, and ensuring alignment with policies, risk, compliance, customer experience (CX), and user experience (UX).

Responsibilities

  • Process Optimization: Identify and execute improvement initiatives, update processes/procedures, apply engineering principles to re-engineer processes, define performance criteria, and drive change through cross-functional teams
  • Business Analysis: Perform impact analysis, baseline performance, identify cost optimization and income enhancement opportunities, deliver QNI/financial savings, and facilitate design workshops
  • Project Management: Coordinate implementation of change initiatives, manage projects within time/budget, handle stakeholder communication, manage risks, and ensure smooth transition to new processes
  • Research & Consulting: Research industry trends, maintain process libraries, consult with business units, and coach/mentor teams and stakeholders
  • Governance: Ensure adherence to governance, risk, and compliance policies

Qualifications

  • Education:
  • Preferred: NQF Level 7: B Tech / Degree in Industrial Engineering
  • Certifications: Certificates in Lean Six Sigma, Agile, Systems Thinking, Process Simulation, Customer Journeys, Lean methodologies
  • Advantageous: Post-Graduate Engineering Degree from a top-tier institution
  • Experience:
  • Previous experience within the financial sector is advantageous
  • Experience with Aris, I-Server (Visio process mapping), Green Lean/Six-Sigma, and Business Process Re-Engineering
  • Knowledge & Skills:
  • Knowledge of process improvement methodologies (Lean Six Sigma, Design Thinking, Agile, Systems Thinking, CX/UX)
  • Process Engineering, Project Management, Analytical, and Workshop facilitation skills
  • Financial knowledge (entry-level), problem-solving, change management, and strong interpersonal/communication skills
  • Proficiency in process mapping, procedure documentation, and Microsoft tools
